The American Association of University Professors

The mission of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) is to advance academic freedom, to define fundamental professional values and standards for higher education, and to ensure higher education's contribution to the common good. Founded in 1915, the AAUP has helped to shape American higher education by developing the standards and procedures that have maintained quality education and academic freedom in this country's colleges and universities for most of the twentieth century, and now in the beginning of the twenty-first century.

Thank you for responding so promptly.

As I indicated in my previous message, our Association has ongoing concerns at SCAD; these relate primarily to issues of academic freedom, tenure, and due process. Given the nature of our concerns, I do not think it likely that we will be in a position to pursue the issues you have raised. At the same time, I would imagine that one or more of the other organizations to which you sent the documents will be in a better position to address those issues. I would appreciate your continuing to keep us informed of further developments in this matter.
